Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) was established in Freeport, Grand Bahama in 2000, as part of a larger plan to develop a maritime center on the island. The Shipyard is located within the Port of Freeport, Grand Bahama, and is 93 nm from Miami, Florida, USA. GBSL is the largest and most respected, ship repair facility in the Caribbean. The Yard operates three floating dry docks that can accommodate post Panamax vessels up to 300 m in length. The docks are complimented by excellent workshops and other facilities including a pier and a wharf with lay down area and four pits dredged to 24m to accommodate underwater thruster removals. GBSL can accommodate vessels requiring drafts with an access draft of approximately 17m. The signature markets of GBSL are the Cruise Industry as well as the Oil and Gas Industry. These two major markets are supplemented with repair and maintenance of other commercial vessels such as barges, tugs, tankers and container ships.
